CSP TECHNOLOGIES®™ Patented Desiccant Polymer

  • What is CSP TECHNOLOGIES patented Desiccant Polymer?

The patented Desiccant Polymer is a proprietary formulation consisting of three components.  The primary component is molecular sieve desiccant.  The second component is the base polymer, polypropylene, which forms the structural framework.  The third component is an immiscible channeling agent.  This third component channels the moisture away from the surface into the material so that the entire volume of desiccant is utilized.

  • How does Molecular Sieve desiccant work?

The molecular sieve particles absorb the moisture that enters the Vial.  Molecular Sieve will maintain the humidity under 10% in the Vial until it reaches capacity.  When the capacity is reached, no additional moisture can be absorbed.

  • How much moisture can the desiccant absorb?

The amount of moisture that can be absorbed is a parameter called capacity.  The total capacity to absorb moisture is a function of the capacity of the raw molecular sieve, the amount of molecular sieve in the Desiccant Polymer- the loading, and the total mass of Desiccant Polymer in the ACTIV-DRI vial.  The molecular sieve used can absorb a minimum of 23% of its weight in water and each batch of material is tested at prior to use.   The capacity of a vial is fixed based on the size of the vial and the amount of desiccant used.

  • Is the material registered with any Regulatory agencies?

CSP TECHNOLOGIES maintains a DMF with the United Stated Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The materials used are Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) and approved for food contact applications.
