CSP TECHNOLOGIES performs several tests on the ACTIV-DRI vials during the manufacturing process to ensure they meet the rigorous standards.

The total capacity to absorb moisture is a function of the capacity of the raw molecular sieve, the amount of molecular sieve in the CSP TECHNOLOGIES Desiccant Polymer, expressed as loading, and the total mass of Desiccant Polymer.  All three of these parameters are checked on each lot of ACTIV-DRI vials.   The Total Capacity is calculated from these values.  If the values are within the specified range, the lot of ACTIV-DRI vials can be released.

· Molecular Sieve capacity
The molecular sieve desiccant material is tested to verify the moisture absorption prior to being compounded into the CSP TECHNOLOGIES Desiccant Polymer.  Moisture absorption is measured as a percentage weight gain.

· Molecular Sieve loading in CSP TECHNOLOGIES Desiccant Polymer material
A sample of Desiccant Polymer material is weighed and then exposed to very high heat in a furnace to burn off the polymer, leaving behind the molecular sieve material.  This is weighed, and the percentage calculated.

· Total Mass of Desiccant Polymer material.
During the production process, samples of sleeves are taken before the second material is injected.  These are weighed to verify that they are within the allowed range.
Another important parameter for the ACTIV-DRI Vial is the seal integrity.  This is also measured on each lot of ACTIV-DRI Vials.  The seal integrity is confirmed by measuring the amount of moisture that enters the Vial and is absorbed, called the moisture ingress.

· Moisture Ingress.
A sample of ACTIV-VIALs is taken and each one is weighed accurately before being placed in a controlled humidity chamber.  The vials are weighed and a linear regression is done on the weight gain as the Desiccant Polymer inside the ACTIV-DRI Vial absorbs the moisture that comes into the Vial until it reaches a steady state gain, which is the moisture ingress value.    If the values are within the specified range, the lot of ACTIV-DRI vials can be released.

The easy opening Flip Top feature is also checked on each lot of ACTIV-DRI Vials.  This is done by measuring the force required to open the Vial.

· Opening Force.
The ACTIV-DRI Vial is placed into a fixture to hold it in a fixed position during testing.  A probe that is attached to a force measuring gauge is placed into position under the Thumb Tab opposite the hinge and moved vertically at a controlled rate.  The gauge measures the maximum force required to open the vial.  If the values are within the specified range, the lot of ACTIV-DRI vials can be released.
